A concert of “Generations XXII” took place on 6 October at the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio. The first edition of this event organized by the Polish Composers’ Union, Polish Radio Program 2, and the ZAiKS Association of Authors took place in 2003 to present trends in new Polish music and the creative attitudes of different generations. This year’s concert was the brainchild of Małgorzata Małaszko-Stasiewicz (Director, editor-in-chief of Polish Radio Program 2), Dariusz Przybylski (composer, vice-chairman of the Section of Authors of Musical Works of the ZAiKS Association) and Tadeusz Wielecki (Polish Composers’ Union).
The program included Charlie’s Dream for saxophone and orchestra by Marta Ptaszyńska, Le Soleil for percussion and orchestra by Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, veritas odium parit for orchestra by Zofia Dowgiałło, Psychodrama for orchestra by Tadeusz Baird, and meanwhile July is so (cruelly) beautiful for soprano and orchestra by Bohdan Sehin. Sehin is a student of Mirosław Skoryk, Zbigniew Bujarski and Zygmunt Krauze; scholarship holder of the Gaude Polonia program and the Friends of the Warsaw Autumn Foundation; and artistic director of the International Master Courses for New Music in Kiev.
The pieces were presented by the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw conducted by Lilianna Krych with soloists soprano Halina Dubitskaya, saxophonist Paweł Gusnar, and drummer Miłosz Pękala.
