The program of the 45th Karol Szymanowski Music Days which took place between the 24th and 31st of July in Zakopane was dominated by the patron’s music. This year marks the 140th anniversary of Karol Szymanowski’s birth.
Szymanowski’s music is always present in the Festival program, as well as the works of the composer’s contemporaries. This year’s Music Days included the works of Szymanowski’s peer, Romanian composer George Enescu (1881). Also performed were works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Marcin Błażewicz, Sławomir Czarnecki, Jerzy Fitelberg, Witold Friemann, Wojciech Kilar, Szymon Laks, Krzysztof Penderecki and Mieczysław Wajnberg.
This event was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the ‘Music’ and ‘Composers’ Commissions’ programmes, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
