The 7th Wojciech Kilar Contemporary Music Festival will be held from 11-25 October in Gorzów. This year’s theme is “Polish sequences.”

During the inaugural concert, Polish pianist Marek Żebrowski and the Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Monika Wolińska will perform a one-part Piano Concerto by Henryk Wars, whose 40th death anniversary falls this year.

The symphonic concerts will feature works by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Krzysztof Penderecki and Wojciech Kilar, including the mystical Missa pro pace. The festival will also present chamber music and Marcin Wyrostek’s project POLACC. Polka with music by Zbigniew Kozub will be staged at the Gorzów Philharmonic. On the penultimate day of the Festival, there will be a screening of the movie Wojciech Kilar – between avant-garde and Hollywood directed by Violetta Rotter-Kozera, which was recognized at the 13th FilmAt Festival and also received the Maciej Łukasiewicz Award.

The last concert will be a compilation of Polish film music composers (such as Jan A. P. Kaczmarek, Andrzej Korzyński, Zygmunt Konieczny, Bartosz Chajdecki, Zbigniew Preisner and Michał Lorenc) performed by the Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra and the Poznań Chamber Choir conducted by Maciej Sztor.
