The 4th “TRZY-CZTE-RY: Contexts. Contrasts. Confrontations” Festival will take place in Warsaw from May 28 – June 19, 2019. The festival features panel discussions after each concert, allowing the audience to interact with the musicians.

This year’s program is devoted to Witold Lutosławski, whose 25th death anniversary fell on February 7. During the inaugural concert, the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra led by Italian conductor Renato Rivolta performed his Livre pour orchestre as well as Symphony No. 1 by Karol Szymanowski. The June 11 concert will be devoted to the Hungarian composer, improviser and pianist Szábolcs Esztényi who lives in Poland and turns 80 this year. Two days later, soprano Anna Zawisza will perform works by Józef Haydn, Karol Szymanowski, Witold Lutosławski and Andrzej Czajkowski, accompanied by pianist and Festival artistic director Maciej Grzybowski . This year also marks the 100th birth anniversary of Mieczysław Weinberg. His music will be presented by the Silesian Quartet and pianist Piotr Sałajczyk on June 14. The finale will feature Recitativa and the ariosa “Lerchenmusik”, Op. 53 by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, among others.
