2020 marks the 10th anniversary of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki‘s death. To commemorate the composer and give young artists an opportunity to present and promote their works, the Silesian Philharmonic is launching a composing competition named after its patron, combined with this year’s 8th edition of the International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.
The subject of the H.M. Górecki International Composers’ Competition is a piece for a cappella choir with a duration of 5 to 10 minutes. The participants of the Competition shall be under 40 years of age. The deadline for submitting entries is 1 October 2020. The works will be judged by a jury composed of recognized artists: Eugeniusz Knapik, Mikołaj Górecki, Paweł Mykietyn, Jarosław Wolanin and Adam Wesołowski.
The prize in the competition will be the premiere performance and professional audiovisual recording of the winning composition during the International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, organized annually by the Silesian Philharmonic.
