On April 15, 2025, LA-based pianist Aron Kallay will perform a concert titled Friends and Family. The program of the event is centered around two new commissions written in memory of loved ones. Among them is Capriccio notturno (2025) by PMC director Marek Zebrowski, composed in honor of Kallay’s grandmother, Cecilia Viola Kallay. The piece will receive its world premiere during the concert.

Also on the program is Analysis of a Dream (2015) by Daniel Allas, written in memory of pianist and composer Sarah Gibson, a beloved member of the Piano Spheres community.

The rest of the evening will explore a broad spectrum of musical ideas, from the sounds of birds in flight to meditations on time and light. Kallay will be joined by violinist Shalini Vijayan, clarinetist Brian Walsh, and cellist Maggie Parkins in works by Somei Satoh (Birds in Warped Time II), A.J. McCaffrey (Murmurations), Juhi Bansal (Whip the Devil Round the Stump), Brian Walsh (A Different Kind of Infinity), and Andy Akiho (Lost on Chiaroscuro Street).
