2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. To commemorate the composer and give young artists an opportunity to present and promote their works, the Silesian Philharmonic is launching a composing competition to align with the 8th edition of the ‘International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki‘ Festival.
The objective of the H.M. Górecki International Composers’ Competition is to create a piece for a cappella choir with a duration of 5 to 10 minutes. Participants should be under 40 years old. The deadline for submitting entries is 1 October 2020. The jury consists of Eugeniusz Knapik, Mikołaj Górecki, Paweł Mykietyn, Jarosław Wolanin and Adam Wesołowski.
The prize in the competition will be the premiere performance and professional audiovisual recording of the winning composition during the ‘International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’ Festival, organized annually by the Silesian Philharmonic.
