Two concerts commemorating the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II took place on 1 September.

At Warsaw’s New Theater, Lidia Zielińska’s composition I don’t like it for ensemble, electronics and choir of young amateurs (2018/2019) was premiered. The work includes sung and recited texts illustrating the escalation of aggression to war from gossip through hate speech. There was also be the Polish premiere of Olga Neuwirth’s Maudite soit la guerre (English title: War is Hell) – A Film War Requiem for ensemble, electronics and film projection (2014), written as music to the 1914 anti-war silent film of the same name by Alfred Machin. The Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic also hosted a concert of Missa pro pace by Wojciech Kilar under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Piotr Całbecki and the Brandenburg Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke. The work was performed first in Potsdam, then in Bydgoszcz. It is another joint venture of the Pomeranian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Singakademie Choir from Frankfurt (Oder), who performed on September 1 at the Pomeranian Philharmonic, conducted by Rudolf Tiersch.
