Led by Adam Knight Gilbert, the USC Thornton Baroque Sinfonia from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles will present a program entitled “Musica Antiqua Polonica: Musical Treasures of Early-Modern Poland” at the Early Music America—Young Performers Festival on June 9 in Berkeley, CA. Featuring music by Mikołaj Zieleński, Marcin Mielczewski, Stanisław Sylwester Szarzyński, Diomedes Cato, Wojciech Długoraj, Wacław of Szamotuły, Jakub Polak, and Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki, their program highlights the considerable and little-known repertoire of Polish early music. This award-winning program is based on one curated for the PMC’s 2015 Paderewski Lecture-Recital featuring the Baroque Sinfonia.
Held in Berkeley June 8-10, the Early Music America—Young Performers Festival will feature ensembles from Indiana University, Bowling Green State University, Case Western Reserve University, and Brigham Young University. All concerts take place at the Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley. More information and program details can be found at: www.earlymusicamerica.org.
