A series of five concerts will be performed at the University of Warsaw starting January 6. The university campus is a significant place in relation to Fryderyk Chopin’s life: he was not only an alumnus of the Music School, but also faculty in the Fine Arts and Sciences department. Moreover, in 1817 his family took residence in the rector house for ten years.
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the facility, the first Chopin Concert will be performed by American pianist Eugen Indjic, prize-winner of many international competitions, including the 8th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, the Leeds International Piano Competition and 2nd prize in the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv. Indjic will perform Chopin’s Mazurka in F minor, D flat minor, and C sharp minor along with pieces by Schumann and Beethoven. The next cycle of concerts will take place in the following months, featuring Markus Groh (Germany), Ingolf Wunder (Austria), Daniil Trifonov (Russia), and Benjamin Grosvenor (United Kingdom).
