The Kraków Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union (ZKP) announces 4th Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition for Young Composers. The subject of the competition is a composition for chamber orchestra with a duration of 9 to 12 minutes. 

Composers from every country, who will be 35 or younger at the moment of its closing, can take part in the competition. Other eligibility requirements include: no more than two compositions submitted per participant, and compositions cannot have been previously performed or published in any form or awarded in any competition. Additionally, the score must be in PDF format, marked with an anonymous emblem, a title, and duration. The score, application form, a short bio, a note about the piece, and a photo (in jpg format), should be sent to the address: sekretarz@zkp.Kraków.pl. Submissions must be received by 15 March 2021 (11:59 p.m., UTC+01:00). 

The Jury of the Competition—consisting of Marcel Chyrzyński (chairman), Zbigniew Bargielski, Ivan Buffa (Slovakia), Wojciech Widłak, and Szymon Bywalec—will grant one Main Prize of $1,000 USD. Awarding of the Main Prize is per the jury’s discretion, as is the granting of honorary awards. The decision of the jury is irrevocable and will be announced on 21 March 2021. The awarded composition will be premiered in April 2021 during a concert at the 33rd Kraków International Festival of Composers.
