NYEMCF

The 2021 New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival (NYCEMF), one of the most important events in this area of creative activities, is being held from 21 June through 27 June. It will include 28 concerts, installations, lectures and workshops, all available online.

The New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival is the largest showcase of electroacoustic music in New York City, and one of the largest in the world. It is an annual, multi-day festival featuring works submitted by emerging and established composers, performers, and sound artists from all over the world, and chosen by an international panel of judges. NYCEMF began in 2009 with the intention of bringing the most innovative and creative new electroacoustic music from around the world to New York City. The festival includes pieces for live electronics and fixed media compositions of up to sixteen channels of sound (although this year only in stereo, due to online limitations), works for acoustic instruments and electronics, multi-media pieces such as those involving video and dance, and various kinds of audio and video installations.

There is a strong Polish contingent at this year’s edition, as programs include the works of Oktawia Pączkowska, Lidia Zielińska, Alek Janicki, Dariusz Mazurowski, Krzysztof Wołek, Patryk Zakrocki, and Piotr Grella-Mozejko.

The featured performers for NYCEMF 2021 are Madeleine Shapiro – cellist, Esther Lamneck – clarinet and tarogató player, Marianne Gythfeldt – clarinetist, and Maja Cerar – violinist.
