The adventurous programming of the Kwadrofonik ensemble will be on display in early December in Warsaw. A series of concerts sited in the exciting new space of Nowy Teatr will feature, among others, a concert of live string quartet accompaniments to videos by Agnès Varda and David Lynch. The Royal String Quartet will perform excerpts of Joanna Bruzdowicz’s String Quartet ‘La Vita’ to the screening of dolly shots from Varda’s iconic feature, Vagabond (1985). David Lynch’s 2015 animated short Pożar [Fire] will be shown to a live performance of a string quartet score composed by PMC Director Marek Żebrowski. This collaborative effort by Lynch and Żebrowski was world premiered in Los Angeles last year during the “Measures & Frames” event at USC. The December 3 concert at Teatr Nowy in Warsaw will be the European premiere of the Lynch/Żebrowski collaboration. The two artists also recorded a joint album of improvisations, Polish Night Music, which was reissued on a 2-LP set in November 2015.
