The 6th International Cello Academy celebrated composer Piotr Moss‘s 70th birthday and 50th anniversary of artistic work with a concert at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław on 21 July. The International Cello Academy [Międzynarodowa Akademia Wiolonczelowa] features concerts and workshops by and for cellists from around the world, covering a wide repertoire from Baroque to jazz and contemporary music. During workshops and concerts, participants, lecturers and guests form a unique ensemble of cellists called the Cello Academy Orchestra.
This year, the Cello Academy Orchestra perform a special concert at the National Forum of Music under the baton of Piotr Moss. On the program were works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Giovanni Sollimy, and Piotr Moss himself, including the world premiere of Suite Elegiaque for cello octet commissioned by the International Cello Academy. The founder and organizer of the International Cello Academy, the Polish Cello Quartet is comprised of prominent Polish cellists Tomasz Daroch, Krzysztof Karpeta, Adam Krzeszowiec and Wojciech Fudala.
