On Saturday, June 21, the Jerzy Semkow Polish ‘Sinfonia Iuventus’ Orchestra performed the world premiere of Aleksander Tansman‘s He, she and I ballet music, which was composed in 1946. Entitled “Three Landscapes of Polish Émigré Music – Maciejewski, Tansman, and Wars,” the concert was part of the 3rd edition of the “Sztuka Źle Obecna” [Mis-present Art] Festival, and held at the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw.

Other works on the program in addition to the Tansman premiere included Roman Maciejewski’s Scenes from Seaside (1972) and Henryk Wars’s Piano Concerto (1948) with an original improvised cadenza. On this occasion, the Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra was joined by pianist Piotr Orzechowski (aka Pianohooligan) and was led by young conductor Norbert Twórczyński.

The ‘Sztuka Źle Obecna’ Festival is organized and funded by the Institute of National Remembrance.
