Piotr Alexewicz, a twenty-five-year-old pianist from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, will be one of only thirty pianists representing seventeen countries to participate in the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Held May 21—June 7 in Fort Worth, Texas, he will be the only Polish pianist in this prestigious competition open to artists aged 18-30 from across the world who will compete for the generous $100,000 First Prize.

The preliminary round will consist of a 40-minute recital with 18 pianists advancing to the Quarterfinal round. The Semifinal round will feature 12 pianists and only six of them will be heard in the Finals, where each is expected to perform two piano concerti with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop. The second and third prizes are $50,000 and $25,000 respectively, and all three winners will receive three years of professional concert management services with bookings for performances worldwide.

The Van Cliburn Jury will be headed by Paul Lewis and will also include Rico Gulda, Mari Kodama, Anne-Marie McDermott, Gabriela Montero, Jon Nakamatsu, Lise de la Salle, Yevgeny Sudbin, and Wu Han.
