On Sunday, December 3, the Freszel Duo will perform ‘Works by great Polish composers of Jewish descent’ at the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles. Their program features compositions spanning the years immediately before, during, and after World War II. This event is organized by HMLA, in partnership with the USC Polish Music Center, Polish National Institute of Music and Dance (NIMiT), and Polish Cultural Institute New York.
The Freszel Duo is an ensemble comprised of two outstanding young Polish artists–Joanna Freszel (soprano) and Łukasz Chrzęszczyk (piano)–who individually are winners of some of most prestigious awards in Poland and beyond. Together, they are a musical powerhouse, pursuing numerous creative projects that are centered on music from the nineteenth century up to the present.
In 2018, the duo recorded the album Śpiewnik polski [Polish Songbook], an anthology of twentieth and twenty-first century Polish song for Orphée Classics. During the 2019/2020 artistic season they toured Polish philharmonic halls performing a song recital as part of the ‘Scena Muzyki Polskiej’ (‘Polish Music On Stage’) program.
