77 years ago the Warsaw Uprising broke out. The concert in tribute to its participants was held on August 1, 2021 at 8:30 in the Freedom Park of the Warsaw Uprising Museum.
As every year, on the evening of August 1st, singers united by the strength of their voice during the concert “Varsovians sing (un)forbidden songs”. They sing together with the Stokłosa Collective Orchestra and the Choir of Varsovians under the direction of Jan Stokłosa. Maestro Stokłosa arranged selected songs especially for the August concert. Natalia Kujawa, Jerzy Grzechnik and Michał Juraszek will perform as soloists. The event was hosted by Tomasz Wolny.
The museum invited everyone interested in the history of Warsaw to commemorate that time and the great people, fighting Poles. This year’s theme of the concert was Love. Songbooks are prepared especially for this occasion, which made it easier for the gathered people to sing together. They contained insurgent repertoire, including songs by famous Polish composers and cultural activists: Karol Kurpiński, Andrzej Panufnik, Jan Ekier, Jerzy Dargiel, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, Michał Zieliński and Jan Markowski.
For those who were not able to reach Freedom Park, the concert was broadcasted live on TVP1 and on the YouTube channel of the Warsaw Uprising Museum.
