On August 13, the I.J. Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz presents an open-air concert entitled “Philharmonic Under the Stars.” The concert will accompany the official naming of the square located between the Philharmonic building and Krzysztof Komeda square after Krzysztof Penderecki, in accordance with a resolution of the Bydgoszcz City Council.
The first anniversary of the death of renowned composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki fell on March 29, 2021. Maestro Penderecki was an Honorary Citizen of Bydgoszcz and a regular guest of the Pomeranian Philharmonic, both as a conductor and as a composer presenting his outstanding works, which still occupy an important place in the artistic plans of the Institution.
During the upcoming concert, the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Paweł Kapuła will perform Penderecki’s Three Pieces in the Old Style, composed of music written for films: the lyrical Aria comes from the documentary Passacaglia to the Sigismund Chapel, and two Minuets – from the iconic film by Wojciech Jerzy Has The Saragossa Manuscript.
