A series of new music concerts “Experimental Tuesdays” will take place on August 3-31, 2021 as part of the 21st Franciszek Wybrańczyk “Sinfonia Varsovia to Its City” Festival.

The Festival is a unique opportunity to see how the young generation of composers is dealing with tradition and modernity. The series is curated by Wioleta Żochowska. The list of performers includes: Contemporary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis from Vilnius (3 August), Ensemble Kompopolex (10 August), Hashtag Ensemble (17 August), Flow Unit 3 (24 August) and Sinfonia Varsovia Camerata (31 August). The musicians will take up such topics as loneliness, the interpenetration of the real and virtual world, or the body-sound relationship.

The artists will present the works of foreign and Polish composers, including Piotr Peszat, Marta Śniady, Anna Sowa, Zofia Dowgiałło, Kuba Krzewiński and Żaneta Rydzewska. On August 10, audiences will witness the world premiere of Mateusz Śmigasiewicz‘s latest piece for percussion entitled ASDR. According to the program notes by Wioleta Żochowska, ASDR is “a work created during the pandemic that provokes the audience to view one sound as a series of changing states.”

The Festival will be accompanied by the exhibition “Sinfonia Varsovia in Scale,” presenting a unique acoustic model of the largest concert hall in Poland, which is to be built at 272 Grochowska Street.
