The newest album featuring celebrated soprano Agata Zubel and pianist Krzysztof Książek recently won a Fryderyk Award in the ‘Solo Recital’ category. With the evocative title of ‘Apparition,’ this recording encompasses a diverse survey of 20th century repertoire for voice and piano, with works by Samuel Barber, George Crumb, Fernando Obradors, Maurice Ravel and Karol Szymanowski.
Recorded in 2018 at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music in Lusławice, Poland, the album was sound directed by Ewa Guziołek-Tubelewicz, with Szymon Jasnowski serving as piano technician. The enclosed booklet, designed by Tadeusz Kazubek and decorated with romantic island photographs by Agata Zubel, includes an illustrative essay by Marcin Majchrowski that was translated by Tomasz Zymer and edited by Agnieszka Kurpisz.
