NOSPR hosted a concert of Polish and American film music on 16 February at the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall in Katowice. The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Bassem Akiki will perform music from Gone With the Wind, Titanic, Star Wars; Wojciech Kilar’s music from Zazdrość i medycyna, Ziemia obiecana, Trędowata and Pan Tadeusz; and Waldemar Kazanecki’s Waltz from the film Noce i dnie.
The Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio also performed a program of Polish music on 16 February in the Adam Mickiewicz University Hall in Poznań. The orchestra was conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal and joined by Polish accordionist Klaudiusz Baran and young harmonica virtuoso Kacper Smoliński. The program included Alexander Tansman’s Variations on a theme by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Krzysztof Herdzin’s Concerto for harmonica and strings, and Mikołaj Majkusiak’s Concerto for accordion, and Igor Stravinski’s Concerto in D.
