2019 marks the anniversaries of several important Polish composers—including Stanisław Moniuszko, Grażyna Bacewicz and Roman Ryterband—and the USC Polish Music Center will celebrate these milestones with a concert performed by distinguished members the Music Academy in Łódź. Academy Dean Tomasz Król (violin) and Contemporary Music Department Head Maciej Staszewski (guitar, composition) are not only leaders of one of Poland’s most respected music academies, but are also highly sought after as performers and composer. Several new works by Staszewski will also be featured on the afternoon’s program.

Our guests from the Łódź Music Academy will share their artistry with the Los Angeles audiences on March 23 at 4:00 p.m., performing alongside guitarist Mircea Gogoncea, a doctoral candidate in the USC Thornton School of Music.
