The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles will present a Polish Organ Music Concert on the occasion of the Centenary of Poland Regaining Independence, featuring organist Jan Bokszczanin from Warsaw’s Frederick Chopin Music Academy. The concert will feature Polish organ music through the ages including pieces by: Karol Szymanowski, Mieczysław Surzyński, Feliks Borowski, Feliks Nowowiejski, Marian Sawa and Johann Sebastian Bach. The concert will be held directly after the Holy Mass that at 5:00 p.m. and is organized by the Polish American Congress of Southern California at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.

Artist Bio
In 2000, Jan Bokszczanin graduated from the class of Professor Joachim Grubich at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music. Subsequently, he was a doctoral grant-holder at the University of North Texas (USA), where he studied under Professor Jesse E. Eschbach. He has taken part in numerous masterclasses given by professors: Marie-Claire Alain (France), Guy Bovet (Switzerland), James David Christie (USA), Bernhard Hass (Germany), Zsigmont Szathmary (Hungary-Germany) and Harald Vogel (Germany). He has performed more than 500 concerts in Poland and abroad (Azerbeidzjan, Belarus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia and the USA), and collaborated with many chamber ensembles and orchestras, including Concerto Avenna, Camerata Vistula, Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus and the Witold Lutosławski Chamber Orchestra.
Jan Bokszczanin has recorded fifteen CDs of organ and chamber music. One of those discs received First Prize in the International Film and Multimedia Festival Niepokalanów 2000, and five others have been nominated for the Polish phonographic industry’s Fryderyk awards. Many contemporary composers have written works and arrangements for him, including Marian Sawa (eleven compositions, eight of them dedicated to Bokszczanin), Adam Sławiński, Paweł Łukaszewski, Miłosz Bembinow, Dariusz Przybylski, Weronika Ratusińska, Piotr Tabakiernik, Paweł Wróbel.
Jan Bokszczanin is artistic director of the Legionowo, Praga (Warsaw Cathedral) and Ursynów festivals of organ and chamber music, as well as several other concert cycles. He is Vice Dean and Professor of the Organ Class at the Frederic Chopin University of Music (Białystok branch). He has delivered papers to international conferences (including Russia, Belarus, Italy, England), given masterclasses (including in Italy, Belarus and Russia) and sat on the jury of the several international competitions.
