On June 30, the first concert of the Guests of the Polish Chamber Choir series – “Polish Music in the Gazebo” – will take place in the Oliwski Park (Opata Jacka Rybińskiego St., Gdańsk). During the following Saturdays, gems of Polish music will be presented during one-hour concerts.
The first ensemble to perform will be the Polish Chamber Choir led by Jan Łukaszewski, organizer of this 40-year-old event. The choir will present folk and patriotic songs by Polish composers Stanisław Moniuszko, Ignacy Paderewski, Edward Pałłasz, Juliusz Łuciuk, Ireneusz and Leon Łukaszewski.
Saturdays from July 7 to August 11, artists from the Gdańsk Academy of Music will perform concerts at noon. Duet Monika Dżuła-Radkiewicz (guitar) and Dorota Pawlus (flute) will play Waltz by Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz and Hommage a Chopin by Aleksander Tansman. Violinist Julia Kazimirowicz and pianist Marta Kur will perform Sonata op. 9 for violin and piano by Karol Szymanowski. Accordionist Maciej Kacprzak and cellist Karol Sokołowski, will present Krzysztof Olczak’s Accotango and Fryderyk Chopin’s Prelude in E minor, Op.28. Jardin Kwartet will perform the nostalgic music of Mieczysław Fogg, Eugeniusz Bodo and Marek Grechuta arranged for string quartet. Songs from the Kabaret Starszych Panów performed by Karolina Arczewska with the band. The last concert will feature arias and songs by Stanisław Moniuszko, Karol Szymanowski and Mieczysław Karłowicz performed by Paulina Dąbrowska (soprano), Andżelika Gmińska (mezzo-soprano) and Zuzanna Lisiecka (piano).
