This year’s Chopin and His Europe Festival will take place in Warsaw from August 15-30, 2016, under the theme of “From Italy to Poland – From Mozart to Bellini.” Aside from Chopin’s œuvre, the program of the Festival’s 12th edition also offers us music by the composers closest to his heart: Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Bellini, Jírovec. This year’s program represents a wide variety of musical genres: opera, art song, concerto, chamber and symphonic music, but also arrangements, paraphrases and variations on themes from the best-known works of the era – genres which were popular in the 19th century. All of this will be performed in masterful renditions on both contemporary and historical instruments (Erard, Pleyel and Broadwood).

As is now standard, Festival guests will include great stars of the piano world, among them Katia and Marielle Labèque, Nelson Goerner, Till Fellner, Jan Lisiecki, Jonathan Plowright and Yulianna Avdeeva, as well as prizewinners from the most recent Chopin Competition – including the top three: Seong-Jin Cho, Charles Richard-Hamelin and Kate Liu. Also performing are Belcea Quartet and Apollon Musagète.
