On June 6, the Sinfonietta Cracovia Orchestra announced the winners of the 2016 International “Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta” Composition Competition. The purpose of the Competition was to encourage the composition of works for the Sinfonietta Cracovia Orchestra. The winners were premiered on July 5, 2016 at the final concert of the 2nd International Sinfonietta Festival in Krakow.
The jury awarded the following prizes:
GRAND PRIZE:
Michael Gatonska (USA, pictured at right) for Sinfonietta – “Światowid”
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Michael Gatonska for Sinfonietta – “White mist, white phantoms”
Aleksandra Chmielewska (PL) for Sinfonietta – “The Night of Fireworks”
Mateusz Śmigasiewicz (PL) for “Sinfonietta per 13 archi”
