From January 13 to February 13, 2016, the 2nd annual Villa-Lobos International Chamber Music Festival will be held in Southern California. Twelve concerts celebrating Villa-Lobos and other Latin American composers with emphasis on Ginastera this year in honor of his 100th birthday, will take place in Riverside, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Temecula, and Encinitas. One of the highlights of this inclusive Festival will be the second ever screening of a 2015 short animated film by David Lynch, Pożar [Fire], with a live performance of the string quartet Music for David written by PMC Director Marek Zebrowski as accompaniment to the film. This film and string quartet were premiered at the Polish Music Center’s event “Measures & Frames” at USC on March 22, 2015 (pictured above).

The screening and concert will take place during a program entitled “Ginastera at 100, Part II – Music and Film” on January 22 at 7:00 pm, held in the Culver Center of the Arts in Riverside, CA.
