The results of the 7th International “Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta” Composers Competition have been announced. The subject of this year’s Competition was to compose a piece entitled “Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta” for string orchestra and theremin obbligato. 

The Jury of the Competition consisted of: Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa – chairwoman, Eugeniusz Knapik, Marcel Chyrzyński and Jurek Dybał.This year, the Jury decided not to award the 1st prize.

The second prize was awarded to Nikodem Kluczyński (Poland) for the piece Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta. Bridge over the Styx for theremin and string orchestra.

The third prize was awarded to Robin Lilja (Sweden) for the piece Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta for theremin and string orchestra.

The Jury has also decided to award an honourable mention to Michael Mishchenkov (Belarus) for the piece Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta. Echo for theremin and string orchestra.

The composition of the top laureate, Nikodem Kluczyński, will receive its premiere during the 7th Sinfonietta Festival, as a part of the concert program entitled “Density: Physical phenomenon of sound” on July 4. It will be performed by Sinfonietta Cracovia under the baton of Jurek Dybał. It will be held in the Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art in the Sukiennice Museum ‒ MNK branch, and will be accompanied by the ceremony of awarding the diplomas to both laureates and the recipient of the honourable mention.
