Under the baton of Maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk, Sinfonia Varsovia will present several reconstructed works of Polish music during the Second World War and the interwar period on December 2, at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. The concert program will commence with Aleksander Tansman’s Symphony No. 5, a piece dedicated to his friend and composer, Paweł Klecki. Together with soloist Łukasz Długosz, the orchestra will also perform Sinfonietta, Op. 7 for large string orchestra and Concertino, Op. 34 for flute and orchestra by Klecki.
The premiere of Klecki’s two works was held in Łódź on November 29, just a few days before the concert at the Museum of POLIN. The manuscripts of these works, destroyed by the Nazi regime in the 1930s, were found after the war and reconstructed by the Tansman Festival in cooperation with musicologists from around the world. The concert will be one of the first opportunities to hear compositions that were absent in the latter half of the twentieth century.
