Requiem Records, October 2017

The 2017 Requiem Records album featuring composer and organist Dariusz Przybylski performing eight works ranging from late mediaeval to contemporary, as adapted for the Hammond organ, is getting excellent reviews. From Dufay and Wacław z Szamotuł, to Purcell, Bach, Cage, Pärt, Krzanowski and Górecki, the album’s main feature is telegraphed by its English title, “Already it is Dusk.” It refers in particular to the works by Wacław z Szamotuł and Górecki, but it also indicates a certain mood of reflection and meditation present throughout the soloist’s arrangements for this unusual instrument. Assisted on this recording by countertenor Jan Jakub Morwid and percussionist Leszek Lorent, Dariusz Przybylski manages to keep the listeners’ attention fresh and focused as he brings many new perspectives to this rather well known repertoire.
