On 3 August 2020, the concert “Dedications to the Sopot Trio” will be held in St. Andrew Bobola Church in Sopot premiering works by Gdańsk-related composers Zbigniew Pniewski and Kamil Cieślik.

The Sopot Trio consists of graduates from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk who remain associated with their home university and music institutions of the Tri-City: Małgorzata Skorupa (violin), Anna Sawicka (cello) and Elżbieta Rosińska (accordion). Since 1991, the ensemble has been presenting a wide repertoire of trio and duo pieces from various eras.

During the August concert in the famous seaside resort for which the Sopot Trio is named, the ensemble will premiere Sopot accordion suite by Zbigniew Pniewski and a new version of Kamil Cieślik’s Accordion trio. The program will be complemented by other pieces dedicated to the performers: Jerzy Mądrawski’s Polish Album, Łukasz Woś’s Dedication and Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély’s Hymn a la Vierge for violin, cello, and harmonium in the version with accordion. The concert will be hosted by Andrzej Zawilski. The recording will be available online.

The event is supported by the City of Sopot Commune and the Polish Music Information Centre in Warsaw.
