Concert Marking Piotr Moss’s 70th Birthday and 50th Anniversary of His Creative Work

On 11 October, the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin hosted a concert to celebrate composer Piotr Moss’s 70th birthday and 50th anniversary of his creative work.

Although his studies (with Grażyna Bacewicz, Piotr Perkowski and Nadia Boulanger) were influenced by the neoclassical trend, Moss himself is referred to as a neo-romantic. A versatile composer, he has written orchestral, sacred, chamber and solo pieces, as well as compositions for theater, jazz, literary and popular songs. He has won several dozen awards at composer competitions throughout Europe. He lives permanently in Paris, where in 2002 he was honored with the Order of Arts and Letters.

French clarinetist Jean-Marc Fessard and the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Anna Duczmal-Mróz performed Piotr Moss’s concerto for clarinet and orchestra D’un silence… as well as the Symphony in C major by Paul Dukas.
