The finale of the 11th Music Festival of Southern Wielkopolska entitled “Szczypiorno: At the Source of Independence” will take place on 5 August. The Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Adam Klocek, will perform. The concert will begin with Serenade for strings, Op. 2 by Mieczysław Karłowicz to showcase the 20-year-old composer’s potential.

Afterwards, pianist Piotr Kosiński, will perform a captivating farewell to the homeland: Piano Concerto in E minor by Fryderyk Chopin, who had to leave Poland in 1930. The finale will take listeners to the Orawa region with Wojciech Kilar’s Orawa for chamber string orchestra, an audience-favorite.

Admission and transportation are free: a marked KLA bus will stop at Nowy Świat Street (in front of the concert hall of the Kalisz Philharmonic). Departure at 5.15 p.m., return at 8.00 p.m.
