Pianist Jonathan Plowright (right) discusses Stojowski’s music with his sons, Henry (center) and Alfred (left) Stojowski after the Paderewski Lecture-Recital.

Recently, British pianist Jonathan Plowright and Polish conductor Łukasz Borowicz were nominated for a prestigious International Classical Music Award (2017 ICMA) for their recording of concertos by Ludomir Różycki (Hyperion CDA68066). Performed with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the album explores Różycki’s irrepressible spirit and response to the horrors of two world wars expressed in the Ballade in G major, Op. 18, Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 43, and Piano Concerto No. 2.

In February, Plowright will also finally record the Paderewski Piano Concerto, one of his favorite concertos, alongside the Rhapsodie Symphonique for Piano and Orchestra by Zygmunt Stojowski.  He will team up once again with Borowicz, with whom he has previously recorded similar Romantic Polish repertoire so successfully.
