Maestro Grzegorz Nowak continues to propel his international career forward with a busy concert schedule this fall. As the current music director, Nowak has devoted much of his time conducting both the Orquesta Sinfonica de España [Spanish National Orchestra] and Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia [Spanish Symphony Orchestra] in Madrid. On October 4, the Spanish Symphony Orchestra made an appearance in London, performing alongside British guitarist Craig Oden at Cadogan Hall. Together, they presented Giménez’s La boda de Luis Alonso, Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, Falla’s El amor brujo (Ritual Fire Dance), and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4. Nowak also incorporated a “Russian Masters” concert into his calendar on October 16 while in London, despite being on hiatus from his position with London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The program of the concert, true to its title, was comprised entirely of works by Russian composers, including Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Borodin, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Khachaturian.
