Held since September 2016, the “SUPERSAM PLUS 1”cycle is a series of concerts combining solo and duo performances by musicians of varying genres with performance art and multimedia presentations. The remaining events will be presented on consecutive Thursdays during the months of November and December in Warsaw. Featured in the program will be numerous collaborations of respected Warsaw based artists and foreign artists, including: Sylvie Courvoisier / Jan Emil Młynarski (November 17), Barry Guy / Marcin Masecki (November 24), Steve Buchanan / Qba Janicki(December 1), Toshinori Kondō / Marek Chołoniewski (December 8), Kazuhisa Uchihashi/ Jerzy Rogiewicz (December 15).
The program is based on the meaning of the title, in which “SUPER” refers to renowned artist/masters, and “SAM” (translated as “alone” or “by himself/herself” in Polish) refers to the solo performances as well as creative loneliness. “PLUS 1” reflects the structure of each evening, which contain two separate solo performances and a duo performance of both artists at the end. All invited artists will premiere works that have never been performed before, and meet local artists and audience members during workshops.
