Director Henryk Martenka and Prof. Piotr Paleczny, the Artistic Director of the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland have just announced the final selection of contestants for this year’s auditions. Out of a total of 164 applications, 56 pianists from 19 countries were selected to participate in the 2016 Paderewski Competition. Poland will be represented by Tymoteusz Bies, Elżbieta Bilicka, Jakub Kuszlik, Aleksandra Świgut, and Andrzej Wierciński.

The triennial Paderewski International Piano Competition will be held November 6-20 in Bydgoszcz, Poland. It is organized by the Paderewski Music Association in cooperation with the Nowowiejski Music Academy, the Paderewski Philharmonic, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Marshall’s Office of the Kuyavia-Pomerania Province and of the City of Bydgoszcz. All auditions are open to the public and will be taking place at various venues, including the Music Academy and the Philharmonic Hall in Bydgoszcz. Previous winners of the International Paderewski Piano Competition included Zheeyoung Moon (2013), Edouard Kunz (2010) and Nikita Mndoyants (2007).
