Karol Szymanowski: String Quartet No. 1; String Quartet No. 2. Claude Debussy: String Quartet No. 1.
Polskie Nagrania/ Warner Music

October 23 marked the debut of Meccore String Quartet’s latest CD featuring Szymanowski’s Quartets no. 1 and 2 and Debussy’s G-minor Quartet. Founded in 2007, the Meccore Quartet belongs to the elite of chamber music ensembles in the world. Mentored by such outstanding artists as Gerhard Schulz, Barthold Kuijken, Heime Müller, Antonello Farulli, and Peter Cropper and ensembles, such as the Alban Berg Quartet, Cuarteto Casals, and Vogler Quartett, among others, this young and dynamic group appeared on many of the world’s premiere stages in cities like London, New York, Vienna, Madrid and Berlin. The Meccore String Quartet received the Polityka Passport Award in 2011 for courageous breaking of the barriers, conventions and stereotypes in the field of classical music.

This recording was made possible in part by a grant from the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation at the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce and an excellent technical team of sound engineers, including Thomas Bössl and Leonie Wagner. Issued by the Polskie Nagrania label, this album appears under the umbrella of Warner Music Group.
