The 13th Ochlewski Competition for Composers invites submissions of original compositions for children choir set to a literary text. Organized by the Polish Music Publishers [PWM], the Competition seeks to promote works by young composers. The Competition is open to Polish nationals under 30 years of age as of December 31, 2015.
The Competition Jury includes Professor Katarzyna Sokołowska, composers Paweł Łukaszewski and Romuald Twardowski, and Dr. Daniel Cichy, Chief Editor of the PWM. The Competition’s patron, Tadeusz Ochlewski (1894-1975), was a violinist, educator, and music publisher. Interested in period music, Ochlewski founded Society of Friends of Ancient Music in Warsaw in 1926 and the Music Publishing Society in 1928. In 1945 he founded Polish Music Publishers in Kraków and served as its director until 1964. For the last decade of his life, Tadeusz Ochlewski led the highly esteemed period music ensemble “Con moto ma cantabile.”
