The popular weekly magazine Polityka has announced the 2014 nominations for its annual Passport Award. Candidates for this coveted cultural prize are chosen from the fields of film, literature, popular music, classical music, theatre, and visual arts. The “Passports” recognize talented young people who, with their activities in a given year, exert unquestionable influence on Polish culture and serve as perhaps the best Polish ambassadors in the world.

In the classical music category, the 2014 nominees are:

  • Łukasz Długosz – “one of today’s best interpreters of flute music”
  • Kwadrofonik (Emilia Sitarz, Magdalena Kordylasińska, Miłosz Pękala and Bartek Wąsik) – “a percussion and piano ensemble that can play anything, and always with relish, good taste, and intelligence”
  • Dariusz Przybylski – “a composer who prefers eclecticism over experimentation”

Winners will be announced during a gala at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw on January 13, 2015, which will broadcast on Polish Television Channel 2 [TVP 2].
