The 16th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition begins today! It will be taking place in Poznań from October 7–21, 2022. Conducted by Andrzej Boreyko, The Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the inaugural concert featuring violinist Veriko Tchumburidze, a previous winner of the competition, as a soloist. Tickets are on sale now. She will also play with the Orchestra in a performance of Antonin Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53 and Mieczysław Karłowicz’s ‘Rebirth’ Symphony in E minor, Op. 7.

The program of the concert will also include ‘Nova’ by Ukrainian composer Victoria Poleva, as an expression of the competition’s solidarity with the Ukrainian nation, so severely affected by Russian military aggression. The 16th International Violin Competition Henryk Wieniawski was organized in tandem with the National Institute of Music and Dance and is funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
