The seventieth anniversary of the Polish Composers’ Union [ZKP] will be celebrated at a Festival of Seven Trends and Concert of Seven Premieres [Festiwal Siedmiu Nurtów oraz Koncert Siedmiu Premier] held June 19-26, 2016 at the National Audio-Visual Institute (NInA) and the Polish Radio’s Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, Piotr Gliński, serves as the Honorary Patron of this event.
The “Seven Trends” presented at the Festival will cover Polish music during the years 1945-2015 and each of the seven concerts will be prepared by one musicologist selected for the occasion, who will be curating one single program. Notes and analysis of these experts will then be published in a program booklet accompanying the Festival. The musicologists chosen to curate these programs are: Rafał Augustyn, Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska, Marcin Trzęsiok, Katarzyna Naliwajek-Mazurek, Iwona Lindstedt, Krzysztof Szwajgier, and Małgorzata Gąsiorowska. For a full listing of all of the composers on each of the seven programs, see the Festival website at zkp70org.wix.com.
The closing concert on June 26 will feature seven commissioned works by seven composers representing seven generations. Maestro Wim Boerman and his ensemble, Orkest de ereprijs, will give the world premieres of these works and possibly feature the same repertoire in their future performances. The works are solo concertos by the following composers and the corresponding soloists who will perform them on June 26: Piotr Tabakiernik (b. 1986) – Andrzej Bauer (cello); Paweł Hendrich (b. 1979) – Leszek Lorent (percussion); Aleksander Kosciow (b. 1974) – Agata Zubel (soprano); Jarosław Siwiński (b. 1964) – Zdzisław Piernik (tuba); Tadeusz Wielecki(b. 1954) – Frank Peters (piano); Zygmunt Krauze (b. 1938) – Zygmunt Krauze (detuned piano); Zbigniew Penherski (B. 1935) – Paweł Gusnar (saxophone).
