Fort the 8th year in a row, the cultural institutions of the Pomorskie province, together with the City of Gdańsk, the Polish Film Institute, the European Solidarity Centre, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage have put together an exciting program of events for the Solidarity of Arts Festival(August 13-27, 2016). The first concert on August 13 is entitled JIMEK+, to be held in the open-air area of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic featuring Radzimir Dębski, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) , and guests: the Kenny Garrett Quintet; Miuosh; Naturally 7; Kaliber 44; Łona, Webber & The Pimps; Alune Wade Quintet and Kapela Maliszów. On August 14 in the same location, KILAR+ (a tribute to the great Polish composer Wojciech Kilar) will feature performances of pianists Beata Bilińska and Kuba Stankiewicz, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) (NOSPR) conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic conducted by Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk and thePolish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Sopot conducted by Wojciech Rajski.

Other 2016 Solidarity of Arts events include: August 17 and 18: “The double life of Krzysztof Kieślowski” screening/lecture series at the European Solidarity Centre; August 21: “Solidarity of cultures – the culture of Solidarity” at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, a concert featuring Lena Chamayan, David Ezra Okonsar, Solar Wind / Alevtina Polyakova, The Teofilović Twins, Anahit Mktrchyan, Olga Pasiecznik, Jarosław Bręk and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic; and August 27: “Kronos Quartet at the European Solidarity Centre.”
