The LA Phil’s upcoming program shines a spotlight on the groundbreaking work of Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, an iconic composer in 20th-century Polish music. Bacewicz is not only important to Polish music, as a groundbreaking female composer and polymathic artist, but also to the PMC since we have several of her original scores in our Manuscript Collection.

The concert will be performed four times at LA Phil on February 13-6. The program will open with Bacewicz’s Concerto for String Orchestra. After that, Grammy Award-winning conductor Paavo Järvi (pictured above), will lead the orchestra through Brahms’ Piano Quartet, reimagined for full orchestra by Schoenberg. The concert also features South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho performing Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G.
