The Tadeusz Baird Young Composers Competition is open to Polish composers (with Polish citizenship or a Polish passport) who are under 35 years of age. It aims to inspire young artists to present the values in the works of Tadeusz Baird in their own chamber pieces.
The objective this year is to create an 8-15 minute piece for four instruments of the same kind, i.e. 4 violins or 4 clarinets (in B) or 4 trumpets (in B). Scores should be sent by 30 November 2020 to the following email address: zkp@zkp.org.pl.
The competition has two stages. In the first stage, the jury will select works to be performed during a public presentation. These results will be announced by 28 February 2021. The public presentation of qualified works will take place in June 2021, and the results will be announced shortly after.
The Tadeusz Baird grand prize is PLN 10,000. The jury will also award two honorable mentions who will receive accommodation and subscription to all concerts of the “Warsaw Autumn” International Festival of Contemporary Music, funded by the Main Board of the Polish Composers’ Union.
The Jury of the Competition will be chaired by Olga Hans.
