During their recent tour of the U.S. and Switzerland, the Karolina & Iwo Duo visited the Morgan Library and Museum in Washington to perform their arrangement of a previously unknown Waltz by Fryderyk Chopin. Discovered by curator Robin McClellan while cataloging the Arthur Satz Collection, this significant piece is the first major Chopin discovery since the 1930s. Read more about it here.
Chopin’s Waltz in A-minor is currently on display through September 14 at the Morgan Library and Museum. This allowed the duo—comprised of Karolina Mikołajczyk, violin and Iwo Jedynecki, accordion—to perform their arrangement right next to the manuscript in its beautiful installation space, making them the first musicians to record their compatriot’s “new” piece in the very place it was discovered!
