The sixty-eighth edition of the Kosciuszko Foundation’s Piano competition will be held in Washington D.C. from February 28 – March 3, 2024, under the Honorary Patronage of Garrick Ohlsson, winner of the 1970 Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

The Kosciuszko Foundation’s Piano Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities representing professional level of performance, aged 17-30.  The preliminary round will be held via video audition, and semifinal and final rounds will be held live in Washington, DC. The deadline for all applications is January 12, 2024.

The Preliminary Round requires a submission of a 25-minute recital on video and the results will be announced by the jury by January 19. The Semi-Final Round will take place on February 29 and March 1. Each semi-finalist will perform a 55-minute solo recital live at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Washington, DC.

On Saturday, March 2, three members of the Competition Jury (Akiko Ebi, Krzysztof Jabłoński, and Ewa Pobłocka) will hold a Chopin Piano Academy master class at the same location as the Semi-Final round.

The Final Round will take place on Sunday, March 3, at the St. Anne’s Church. Finalists will perform a concerto with members of the National Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Maestro Piotr Gajewski. Maestro Gajewski also serves as the Chair of the five-member jury that also includes Linda Petrikova, who will judge only the Final Round. Prizes ranging from $1500 to $5000 will be awarded.
