Bandonegro, a world-class quartet from Poland, is a group of four young and very accomplished musicians. They are Michał Główka (bandoneon/accordion), Jakub Czechowicz (violin), Marek Dolecki (piano) and Marcin Antkowiak (double bass). They specialize in traditional Argentine tango and Tango Nuevo, as well as compose their own works, blending in elements of jazz and classical music.

All Bandonegro members were born in Poznań in 1993, and have performed together since they were 18. The ensemble has already recorded five albums published by such Polish record labels as DUX, RecArt and SJRecords. Tanchestron (2017), Tangostoria (2020), and Color Aires (2022) are more traditional tango albums, whereas Tango Nuevo by Astor Piazzolla (2012) and the Hola Astor (2019) present a fusion of tango and with elements of jazz and rock that attracted great critical acclaim. Bandonegro has appeared in many of the most prestigious tango festivals throughout Europe and are now embarking on their first North American tour.

Bandonegro’s U.S. and Canada tour begins with a concert in Berkeley on November 1 and continues with two concerts in Hartford, CT, November 3 and 4. From there the Polish musicians move on to Washington DC and Annapolis (Nov. 6 and 7) and continue to the Mid-West with concerts in Madison and Chicago (Nov. 11 and 12). The Canada portion of their tour includes Ottawa (Nov. 15), Regina (Nov. 15), Vancouver (Nov. 17), and Victoria (Nov. 18). Once on the west coast of North America, the group will perform in Seattle on Nov. 24, and they will be heard at in Los Angeles at Candela La Brea on Nov. 26.

Their last U.S. concert is in Boulder, CO on Dec. 2, after which Bandonegro returns to Europe with engagements in Bern and Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, on Dec. 8 and 9.  More information on the ensemble, including videos and soundtracks, is available at: www.bandonegro.com
