The 2023 Paderewski Festival will hold its annual Youth Piano Competition auditions on Sunday, October 15.

Contestants will compete in two categories: Juniors (ages 10-14) and Seniors (ages 15-18). Juniors are expected to perform two contrasting solo piano works of their choice with the length of the program not to exceed 10 minutes. Seniors are expected to perform three solo piano works, including one by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and their presentation is not to exceed 15 minutes.

The Youth Piano Competition application deadline is Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. Without exception, Competition applications must be submitted and the $50 audition fee paid online by this deadline (see application & fee form here). Late entries will not be considered. Once all application forms have been processed, the audition schedule will be emailed to each accepted student.

Competition auditions will be held at the LIBRETTO in downtown Paso Robles on Sunday, October 15. The Jury will include professors India d’Avignon and Paul Woodring and the Paderewski Festival’s Artistic Director, Marek Zebrowski. Youth Piano Competition winners will be announced by the jury directly after the auditions.

Winners will perform in concert during the 2023 Paderewski Festival in Paso Robles on Saturday, November 4. Held in the historic Park Ballroom in downtown Paso, the Youth Piano Competition Winners’ Recital is free and open to the public.
